It's not your typical tourist trap fake kind of place that is so common in the area. This is a place where you will find locals with their families going in to share a pizza and good old boys drinking at the bar.
It's been around a long time and it looks like it has been around for a long time. I had some of my first beers here when I was younger and as a matter of fact my mom even hung out here when she was in college.
This is not the most sophisticated big-city pizza that you can find, but if you’re looking for a simple meal and a cold brew and you don't mind sitting next to some guy in a cowboy hat, then this is your place.
"What A Blessing"
After three days of passably good but industrial food in Yellowstone Park, this was a blessing. I mean a real bar with fresh regional beers on tap and properly greasy pizza made fresh in house.
Even if you aren't into greasy pizza or beer, it is worth a stop to see the brewerania; all of the branded, beer mirrors and adverts is really fun.
There is a 3/4 size pool table, keno? and slots/arcade games. Gardiner is small enough that you feel like family very quickly. If you moved here this may become your Cheers.
"Great Pizza & Beer"
Very impressed with K Bar Pizza and beer selection. I got turned onto a Montana brew that I just can't stay away from (Kettle House Cold Smoke). I understand some of the other reviews as staffing / service can be a bit lacking, just know that going into K Bar. Just be a bit patient (seen a few tourist this week that lack that ability) and the wait is worth it. If you need someone to wait on you hand and foot - this isn't it. Just leaves more room for me.
Visited K-Bar after a long bike ride, and was pleasantly surprised that the pizza there was prepared fresh with a terrific selection of toppings. Fast, friendly service from behind the bar -- surprising for a small, "local" restaurant! Excellent pizza (and tap beer) made for a great post-ride meal!
"Only place in Gardiner still serving lunch at 2:15 p.m."
We found several places closed between lunch and dinner and the one we went to Gardiner for closed because it was Monday! The K-Bar food was great but it took awhile because they seemed overwhelmed with the mid-afternoon crowd.
"Definately reccomend to those who want a low key place to eat with great food"
We went to the K-Barr after a poor dining experience elsewhere in Gardiner. When we first walked in we weren't really greeted it a place where you seat yourself. We waited for about five minutes on one side of the restaurant without any service so we decided to move into the side where the bar was. Within a few minutes someone brought us menus and got our drink orders. The menu had a variety of american cuisine but we decided to get pizza to save some money in the long run. The pizza is hand tossed and was agreeably one of the best pizzas our party has ever eaten. The place kind of had a western feel with with moose and tree lighting fixtures. Also had cool signs on the wall and pictures of yellowstone and was well lit for what I consider to be a bar atmosphere. Although they have a bar this place is definately kid and family friendly. We liked it so much we went back a second time during lunch hour and the food was just as good and so was our experience.
"Food better than you'd expect in a tourist town this small"
Hand tossed pizza, really good salads, fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce, and a decent Reuben. We ate here twice during lunch hour and thoroughly enjoyed it both days. Good beer selection too. On the second day the poor guy working the counter got slammed by a deluge of folks that he attempted to serve without any assistance. The wait was long but his attitude was so positive and apologetic that there weren't any ruffled feathers that I could see among the tourists.
Was there with Team River Runners and I loved the pizza and the service!!!
